Hello. You're experiencing memory problems with your current Windows version on a PC with 8GB RAM. Idle usage sits around 14%, but games like GTA V or Dying Light can spike usage to nearly 80%. This often leads to crashes and low memory warnings. Your system always shows more RAM usage than what's actually being used by the game. You mentioned using Windows 10 10240 with an OC chip, which you've never played without. The issue might be related to that overclocking. You're considering switching to a different Windows build or version and want updates for the latest drivers, especially for NVIDIA and AMD Ryzen.

You're experiencing high memory usage during games despite expectations. It could be due to system settings, background processes, or insufficient RAM. Checking your hardware specs and adjusting settings might help.

I check Task Manager to identify which process uses most of your memory. Chrome consumes a lot of RAM... but often, a hidden memory leak comes from an outdated driver. Make sure every driver—GPU, audio, networking, wireless, Bluetooth, motherboard chipset, SATA controllers, webcam, etc.—is fully updated.

Thank you for your update. I'll use Process Explorer to track RAM consumption and avoid Chrome. I'll look into whether any devices require driver updates. My current idle memory usage with just one third-party app (MSI Gaming App) is 13% (1GB). The screenshot below shows GTA 5 using 3,857MB of physical memory and 8,189MB of paged pool memory. Overall physical memory usage is 74%, which is about 16% for Windows and the rest, plus 47% for GTA 5—well under the 65% limit. There are also tasks that don't appear in the task manager's memory compression or encoder service sections.

The issue seems to be excessive RAM usage from games. I’m unsure which game causes the problem since I don’t have it for comparison. There are no memory leaks, but I notice svchost.exe using about 83MB. Checking Task Manager or running a command line can help identify the exact service. It might be related to software like MSI tools or drivers, or even something like encorderserever.exe from MSI Afterburner or RivaTuner. The new Windows 10 feature called memory compression compresses RAM when usage is low, avoiding the slower pagefile, but it doesn’t show as an executable file.

The issue lies in the missing memory. GTA 5 requires around 4000 MB, while the rest of the operating system uses between 1 and 1.2 GB during idle. When the game runs, total system memory usage rises to as high as 7 GB. A memory leak occurs when a game sends data into RAM but fails to clear it properly.
