Which VR should I choose?
I'm planning to travel to the US soon and need to choose a VR system to purchase now, since prices there are significantly lower than in Italy.
I own a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and a PC with a Ryzen 2600x and RX 580.
My main focus is on sitting games such as Project Cars 2, Dirt Rally and Elite.
I have limited space for movement and don’t want to carry a lot of gear...
Around 100$ I can buy the GearVR and an additional 30$ for Riftcat, but I’ve used a Cardboard (Virtoba X5) before—it worked fine most of the time, but wasn’t always reliable and made the phone uncomfortable on my face. I also have to remove the phone from its case each time I use it, which is inconvenient.
I could stretch to 350$ for a Rift, but that’s almost three times more expensive.
I’m not particularly interested in VR systems that won’t work with my PC, and I need to be ready by the end of February when I’m there. WMR seems to be outdated.
- Have others used GearVR with the Note 9 and Rift? Are they heavy or as comfortable as each other?
- Does the resolution or screen size change noticeably between them?
- Is the Rift really three times better?
Thanks for the reply. Vive is too expensive. Going to Oregon in 3 weeks, Rift is $350 new. With no sales tax there that comes in at €305, so 2nd hand for €30 less without shipping doesn't really seem worth the inherent risk.
