I switched to a 32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX kit at 2993mhz Micron a while back, and now I mostly use it regularly. I’m thinking about moving to a 64GB Trident-Z from G.SKILL since I have a Ryzen 2600X and plan to upgrade to higher-end chips. I’m curious which option—two 32GB 2x8 3200Mhz CL kits or one 64GB 4x16 3600Mhz CL kit—would give better performance and optimization after overclocking.

Base 3600 would work better. I've adjusted my 3200MHz RAM to 3333, but progress was limited. My Corsair Vengeance is still in use, not Gskill, though it seems unlikely to reach 3600 from a 3200 MHz setup.

Consider 3200mhz RAM with timing under CL14. Opt for the GSKIL Trident Z for better overclocking potential, though I'm unsure if micron B die chips can handle it well. Samsung's B die chips seem more likely to overclock.

Believe it, you can boost a 3200 MHz RAM to 3600 MHz using GSKILL Trident RAMs.

Two slower kits compared to one faster one, but the latter clearly offers more promise. Still, this won’t stand out much with a 2600 because it took a lot of work in the second generation to run 16GB at 3600MHz. A 64GB version probably caps you around 3200 unless it’s closer to 2933 at most. With newer chips (and a decent board) you should comfortably hit 3600MHz, which the first kit won’t likely achieve (that’s why memory dies on a 3200 model instead of 3600). Your approach should gain from faster RAM simply because you’re already using more of it. Purchasing a model means choosing a certain look. What really matters is the binning—frequency and timing.
