Looking for a custom ROM to boost performance and cut down bloat while keeping your Shield’s NVIDIA features intact. You're on Shield 5.0.1 with unofficial TWRP—consider trying a version like TWRP Custom or a tailored ROM from a trusted source. Make sure it supports your tablet’s hardware and maintains essential functions. Let me know if you need help finding a safe option!

It runs on a standard AOSP version. I believe no unnecessary software will be removed. The main changes involve the apps required for the shield's operation.

Nvidia-related tools not found on Google Play are likely closed-source and won’t work on custom ROMs. Removing unnecessary apps might involve rooting your device to access essential features.

I considered using cyanogenmod but noticed it doesn't support NVIDIA features such as controller, grid, and prism. I also wanted to strip away unnecessary software, keeping only essentials like the Play Store. Regarding performance, I read that cyanogenmod runs faster than the standard version even though it's nearly identical.

Own app solutions won’t be available. You might explore options to install them, but if you’re focused on cleaning up bloat, consider rooting your tablet and using alternatives like Titanium Backup. If you don’t require the built-in features, reach out to the Xda-developers community for guidance—just search for your device. The Shield has limited content but provides instructions for rooting.
