Which RAM speed to buy?
Your motherboard runs an MSI B350 PC MATE with DDR4 support. The supported speeds are 3200 (OC) plus a few others. You have 8GB of Corsair Vengeance LPX at 2400MHz, which you chose to use instead of the higher speed. If you upgrade to RAM with 3200 speed, it should work fine without overclocking in the BIOS. Just ensure your system meets all requirements and consider upgrading for better performance. Thanks for reaching out!
Ram can be challenging to work with. The speed of the RAM isn't crucial when compared to overall capacity. Incompatible RAM might cause issues. The RAM speed will align with the slowest RAM in the system. If you just want more memory, don't stress too much about overclocking. Just add another stick if needed. It really depends on your needs, but for gaming and streaming performance is only a small factor.
I’d avoid pushing beyond 3200Mhz with the first-gen Ryzen. Trying to snag kits with more precise clocks isn’t worth it. Just use the XMP profile set to 9 or 10 and you should boot fine.
