Which RAM speed suits your needs?
I have a comparable configuration. It depends if you're increasing the clock speed.
ram or cpu? ram defaults to 2133 spd on asrock board, 8086k cpu here, and Z390. I’m not familiar with timings, but generally lower is better, timing and speed differ. If you have two ram slots, use two 16gb sticks; for four slots, use four 8gb sticks. A 3600 spd setup likely needs overclocking, possibly aiming for 2400 spd, and you should check the timing settings. Timings are four numbers.
I plan to purchase two 16GB drives...just in case you wish for 64GB later when the VM issue arises. The speed and timing depend on your budget. If you need the maximum, go with C14 at 4000MHz. Honestly, C14 at 3600MHz is sufficient. I opt for C17 at 3733MHz...32GB that way, which is much more affordable. It runs smoothly on my 8700k machine.
