If it doesn't show up, it means it hasn't been confirmed as functional. From what I observed, only a few top capacity and high-frequency kits are approved for this board. Whether that matters depends largely on your needs. If you're confident the memory you plan to purchase is suitable, then yes—make sure it's among the approved kits in the QVL. You can still experiment with settings if you buy something else and it fails; just set realistic expectations. There are many discussions here about people buying various high-density, high-frequency kits only to discover their motherboard can't support the claimed speed.
