Currently you have a 2x2GB DDR2 PC2-6400 (800MHz) in dual channels. You're considering two options: 1) Adding one 1x2GB DDR2 PC2-6400, bringing the total to three sticks at 800MHz—though it seems dual channel isn't available here? Or 2) Adding two 1GB DDR2 PC2-5300 (667MHz), giving four sticks at 667MHz with dual channels. I understand you're getting a bit bored!

Only a few chip sets allow dual channel memory for DDR2, as noted by Google.

They might not detect it, but you can verify by checking your system's BIOS settings or using advanced tools that support detailed channel identification.

It seems there might be some confusion. Could you clarify what you're referring to? Are you asking about a motherboard issue and what software or system is currently running?

This Intel Q33 Express board is compatible with dual-channel configurations. The motherboard uses a Hewlett-Packard 2820h M.2 slot.

It seems to work with two channels, which might be the intended path. I’d like you to test both options and share your findings so we can track more examples of this confusion.

They confirmed, "CPU-Z indicates dual channel."

Hey team, just checked and confirmed only one stick is left. It now shows "Single," which means it should work with dual channel as mentioned by @Fasauceome. Regarding configurations, a slower setup with 4 sticks or a faster one with 3 sticks without dual channel would be better depending on your needs. Also, even with a 3x2GB PC-6400 (800MHz), it still lists as dual channel—maybe the settings are misinterpreted?

dual channel offers double the bandwidth, meaning faster RAM would need to match that speed. hybrid mode has been available for some time; with configurations like 2x2 GB and 1x2 GB, it stays in dual channel until more than 4GB of RAM is active. However, the 667MHz RAM might be slowing down the 800MHz version, so it's better to use four modules.
