You’re considering an upgrade after eight years with your current i7. For sustained performance handling multiple online apps, streaming, and media, look for a processor with solid multi-core support and decent power efficiency. A mid-range option like an Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 would provide enough stability and speed without needing a dedicated GPU. Prioritize reliability and thermal management to ensure longevity.

The i5 12400 offers a solid choice at around $170. It performs well and has a decent lifespan, though expecting it to last eight years is challenging. Upgrading every few years is often more practical, given the uncertainty about future technology trends. While it's possible this chip could hold up that long, there are no guarantees.

For watching video online, it's okay. If you're planning to play games, then an integrated graphics card won't be very helpful.
