Hey there! I'm trying to upgrade the CPU in my gaming PC because my FPS have dropped unexpectedly. I've already shared this on the forum, and many suggested switching to an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D with a BIOS update. My current setup includes: CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, Motherboard - ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING II, RAM - 32GB TridentZ RGB at 3600MHz (though it's running at 3266MHz due to BIOS restrictions), GPU - RTX 3060 Ti. After some research, I'm considering whether Ryzen 7 5800X3D or Ryzen 5 7600(X) would be better for my RTX 3060 Ti. Also, I need advice on BIOS settings to fix the FPS issues. Since the PC is mainly used for gaming, streaming, and video editing, any tips would be super helpful!

It's a straightforward upgrade. The Ryzen 7000 series also requires a new motherboard and RAM, which would make it significantly more costly. However, if your frame rate was acceptable and then dropped unexpectedly, it doesn't seem like the CPU is the problem at all.

The problem seems unclear to me. I’m not sure what you’re referring to.

Execute MSI afterburner Rivatuner overlay, monitor temperatures and usage percentages while gaming. Verify GPU performance at full capacity. Ensure BIOS is updated to the newest release, drivers are current, and consider a fresh Windows installation to eliminate discrepancies. Check for any background processes consuming system resources.

GPU performance is around 40-50%. It might be related to the BIOS, but I’m not very familiar with those settings.

GPU consumption varies significantly depending on the game. For instance, Rainbow Six Siege uses a lot more power.

The first stage would involve a system refresh.

I use 1080p resolution but need to lower the quality in all games to maintain decent frame rates. System load stays around 70-80%, occasionally reaching 80-90%.

It doesn't seem logical, though it's likely the 3700X will cause a bottleneck but not this severe. Have you attempted reinstalling the graphics drivers with DDU and then rechecked? XMP and Zen 2 usually cap at the supported frequency, which is around 3266MHz—processor limits for RAM are 3200MT/s, so going beyond is an overclock that isn't assured.
