My GPU finally stopped working yesterday. It was an old GTX 970 paired with an i5 4690k. I’d been thinking about getting it replaced for a while, but the shortage has kept me waiting. I’m not sure if I’ll find a suitable replacement, so I might decide to go all in and upgrade completely. Fortunately, my usual PC shop still carries some prebuilt units, and two look quite alike except for the CPU. They both have an X570 motherboard, an RTX 3070, 16GB DDR4 RAM at 3200MHz, a 500GB SSD, and a 700W power supply. The 3700x model costs around 1900€, while the 5800x is about 2100€. I’d pay roughly 190€ or 210€ a month for either over ten months. I’m unsure which one to choose. Most users say they mainly play games at 1080p now, but plan to switch to 1440p later. I know the performance gap isn’t huge, but the 5800x could be better for future upgrades, which is important since I usually wait 5 to 7 years before replacing components.
I prefer the 5800X since it's more recent, offers higher IPC, and performs better with a single core. Yet...these costs are extremely steep and I wouldn't pay $2500 (after converting Euro to USD on the 5800X) for such a chip. Oh no, I assumed the person had already purchased those components and not listed them as prebuilt... wow. Overall, it's a decent offer and I'm willing to go with a prebuilt featuring a 5800X. EDIT: Corrected my initial message.
That's acceptable. The main points I’d watch for are the motherboard manufacturer (just a small detail) and the power supply brand and model in the prebuilt components. With your high-end gear, it’s important to ensure the PSU is reliable to avoid damage.
That's another issue I'm worried about. I'll reach out to them regarding it, because it isn't mentioned on the site. At least the PSU is an 80+ Gold, which is better than the Bronze version from a more affordable build at another shop...
