Which power supply is better for an ITX build: Asus or Cooler Master?
Build
CPU: Intel I7-14700K
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z790I Aorus Ultra
GPU: Gigabyte 4070 Ti Super Windforce OC
Case: Lian Li A4 H20
Budget: Not specified
For this configuration, my goal was an 850w power supply. But the available options at the nearby Micro Center are limited. They don’t have any black 850w Lian Li models, and their house brand choices from the Micro Center receive low ratings. The only viable alternatives are an ASUS ROG 850w Gold SFX-L, an ASUS ROG Loki 1000w Platinum SFX-L, or a Cooler Master V1100 11000w SFX.
I understand that the Cooler Master might be too much in terms of wattage, but it should fit the case best since it’s slightly shorter in depth. It also offers better future-proofing and upgrade potential.
Are there any downsides other than higher cost? It would be $60 more than the ASUS 850w and $80 more than the Phanteks 850w Platinum I originally chose?
I could look for other places, but I prefer using Mico Center’s build service.
Thank you
Do you have a Lian-Li SFX PSU? If yes, I'd grab the SP850 and finish your Lian-Li setup.
They do have that PSU at my store, though I removed it because its review score is lower. Notably, the rating appears higher on the product page than on the build page.
