Which OS
This will definitely surprise many, especially coming from someone who has relied mainly on Windows and Linux for a long time. However, I’m leaning toward OSX as the best choice here. Personally, I dislike the interface and overall usability, but that’s just my perspective. What really counts is the underlying functionality, and on several occasions I’ve been genuinely impressed by it. I’ll keep those stories, but let’s just say they’ve performed quite well—at least that’s what I remember from the early days... not sure if things have changed much since then.
I’d like to review the list and see how closely it matches yours. Just let me know what you’re comparing it to!
Linux is a strong option since it supports nearly all software.
In the end, I’d lean toward Windows 7. It offers the most compatibility with common software, especially when using tools like WINE on Linux. It avoids the privacy concerns and telemetry issues associated with Windows 10, making it a safer choice overall. While Linux shines for highly specialized tasks, Windows 7 remains a solid, user-friendly option that works well for everyday needs. For those who value open-source freedom and performance, Linux has its strengths, but for most people it strikes a good balance.
