I apologize for the frequent posts to these groups; just wanted to confirm I'm choosing the optimal PC right now. The Asus board isn't available anywhere, so I'm evaluating two alternatives instead. Yeah sorry I understand its a little hard to say, I won’t be using the pcie5 features for a while, mainly just like them for future proofing. The upgraded rear i/o is also nice, but again probably not needed for me. I’ll probably just get the cheaper one, even though I like the look of the mpg more too. I wont be losing out on performance with the cheaper one will I? I will be using a r5 7600x for now but will a top of the line cpu run well in the cheaper one?
I'm using a 7800X3D in my setup and it's considered one of the top mid-range boards available at a fair price. Motherboards don't really add performance gains, and PCIe 5 is still emerging with limited bandwidth improvements over PCIe 4. Most GPUs that work on PCIe 4 can run smoothly on PCIe 3 with only slight performance drops. We haven't fully utilized PCIe 4 data speeds yet, though the upcoming 4090 might bring closer results. PCIe 5 NVMs for gaming won't make a noticeable difference—loading times will be almost the same as Gen 3. It'll take some time before PCIe 5 becomes standard and necessary for most devices.
