These two boards are both AM4 and will work with the Ryzen 7 5800X3D. Which one is more suitable for gaming depends on your specific needs. The ASUS ROG STRIX B550-A is a popular choice for gamers, while the ASRock B550 TAICHI RAZER Edition offers a similar performance at a lower price point.

Both models operate at identical velocities. Choose the one that meets your requirements for features.

Gaming motherboards are a different concept. The "gaming optimized" ones used to offer a few extra overclocking options, but today they mainly feature more RGB lighting. These boards will behave identically in all aspects; the main distinction lies in the specific features each has, which comes down to personal choice based on your requirements.

In short, skip the unnecessary junk—your motherboard doesn’t really affect performance directly. The main factor is usually the PCIe speed, but most solid boards can handle DDR4 5000. Mid-range options like Aorus Master and Unify X should work around 6000. You don’t need extremely high VRM numbers; any midrange CPU will manage heat and power usage. Temperatures will be the biggest concern once you go past 5800x3D, since boost voltage only goes so far. Going above 1.45V can cause slight drops in performance after a while, which might become obvious after a few months. For a 5800X3D, these are fixed parts and won’t change much. If you want more control, tweak the clock speed carefully—though there’s no evidence it causes OS corruption. B550 Aorus Pro AC offers better I/O than others, so consider that if possible.

I don't recommend the AsRock, Asus wins my choice.
