Which latest Nvidia driver version is currently the most stable and performs best?
A few months back I upgraded to the newest Nvidia drivers via DDU, but faced persistent black screens and instability. The only solution was a fresh Windows installation and reverting to an older driver version that others had suggested for similar problems. Since then, I've been steering clear of any Nvidia updates. However, while playing games—especially DayZ—I've started to notice minor performance drops (just a slight frame stutter). I'm curious if newer driver releases are worth the effort or if there are specific versions you'd advise using. Or is it better to skip it altogether?
If you're using an RTX 4000 series GPU, test with 566.36. For an RTX 5000 series GPU, ensure you use drivers from launch or the most recent updates. DDU operates in Safe Mode to eliminate all GPU drivers (intel, AMD, Nvidia) and then manually install the latest driver via an elevated command—right-click the installer and select Run as Administrator. When sharing troubleshooting threads, provide complete system specifications including CPU, CPU cooler, motherboard, RAM, SSD/HDD, GPU, PSU, chassis, OS, monitor details, and note the age of the PSU along with its make and model. Also mention the current BIOS version for your motherboard.
Latest NVIDIA drivers have been problematic, so I suggest using 566.36 until the problems are fixed.
Returning to 566.36 with DDU worked. Appreciate the assistance, buddy!
Tested several updated versions but consistently returned 566.36 each time (4080 GPU).
Following the update yesterday, I encountered the GPU Update bug, but with help from my Tech Support, I managed to resolve it. I'm checking if the current Nvidia WS Driver Version 576.80 is safe for use on my Alienware X15 R1 Laptop.
