The 9060 XT offers a notable benefit when connected to older systems. AMD implemented a full x16 PCIe interface, surpassing the 8x support of the previous 7600 XT and current models like 4060 Ti and 5060 Ti. It is expected to function more effectively even in the older PCIe 3.0 x16 slot found on that B450 board.

Good point. I'm running a 5060ti with 16gb and it's fine, though I'm also using a Ryzen 7 7700 on a B650 board, which means it's not restricted to PCIe 3.

So update on my graphics card. I sent away my older motherboard and got it back today. MSI sent me a b550m board. So I have to get a new cpu and ram now. Ryzen 5800 was thinking and 3200mhz ram. Than I can a better GPU. I'll send back the older motherboard to Amazon.

5700x is almost as slow as 5800x yet significantly simpler to cool. It's still twice the speed of your 2700. 5800x demands extensive cooling, and I had to use a 360 AIO to maintain stability at peak performance. Running at 3600MHz with low Clock Speed works well for this configuration without a large cost increase.

It’s significantly easier for the 16GB edition to have PCIe lanes cut to x8 even when using older PCIe slots, since the 8GB version struggles more with frame buffer limits. It often requires communication with motherboard PCIe interfaces to access more memory, which can turn into a bandwidth problem in both 4.0 and 3.0 slots. Regarding RAM, the best choice for Ryzen 5xxx is 3600MHz/CL16; a 5700MHz option works well too, especially with a 25 dollar cooler and PBO enabled – no issues detected.

Wait for the RX 9060 XT to arrive, but start by improving your CPU to a Ryzen 7 5700x or 5700x3d, boost your RAM to 2x16GB DDR4 3200 or 3600, and once the GPU is ready, consider getting a 1080p or 1440p display at 144Hz.

Thank you for your response.
My PSU is quite new, it's this MSI MAG A1000GL PCIE 5 Gaming Power Supply - Full Modular - 80 Plus Gold Certified 1000W - Compact Size - ATX PSU. I plan to upgrade to 5700x and 3600mhz with 32gb RAM, and I'll wait for the RX 9060 XT release.
For the monitor, I'll hold off until I get the graphics card.

The 1000 watt PSU might be too much for your setup even after upgrades, but it ensures you're ready for future improvements. You could handle a 9800x3d and either the RTX 5080 or RX 9070 XT without any power problems.

If you choose between the 5060ti 16gb and the 9060 xt 16gb, either will be a solid improvement over the 3050. I previously had the 5060ti 16gb but ended up getting the 9070xt instead. Still, with upscaling and frame generation you could achieve a decent 1440p display.
