Which game should you choose between Elden Ring and Hogwarts Legacy?
Which game should you choose between Elden Ring and Hogwarts Legacy?
Well I purchased HL and just spent 2 hours in the game... I'm speechless. The game looks utterly amazing in 4K resolution on my OLED panel.
Performance was solid. The hardware test the game did put everything on Ultra... and I turned on all the RT options.
CPU usage was less than 10%. GPU usage was 35-55%. FPS was 60 and stayed there. CPU temps were 40C. GPU temps were around 50-55C. Ram usage was 21/64GB.
Super happy with the upgrade and can't wait to dive into the game this weekend.
Haha! That was a great moment, really! I found out how silly I sounded and had a good laugh.
It’s definitely Hogwarts!
😂
🤷 Not sure why I thought it was Half-Life, hehe.
Haha! Yeah, I've done that too sometimes!
Anyway... yes... my PC really messed up HL on Ultra 4K with RT.
I'm really looking forward to spending some time in the game this weekend! Thanks for the comments... and yes... Elden Ring is next!
You might also consider playing Cyberpunk 2077, particularly the new RT overdrive mode and the upcoming PATH TRACING update. This title would push the RTX 4090 to its limits in 4K resolution when both RTX and Path tracing are active. In reality, it would be even more challenging for current hardware. The developers recently shared a "Behind The Settings" video addressing the Path Tracing update and the upcoming NVIDIA Overdrive RT mode, explaining how these features will significantly increase GPU demands. They note that with an RTX 4090 running DLSS 3, achieving over 30 FPS would be difficult, so using native settings without enhancements would likely result in under 30 FPS performance. You'd probably say it's funny if you mentioned having CP2077 without playing it yet. I actually got it on release day but never installed it, mainly because of the gameplay complaints I read right after launch... I figured, "Alright, I'll just wait." It's already in my GoG library and I need to install it this weekend. I plan to share the 4K Ultra results then. Thanks for the link—I'll check it out when I get home from work. I've heard about the new update.
I never purchased this game for honesty' sake. Besides the gameplay problems and graphical issues that appeared at launch, I also disliked its setting, environment, and theme. It's full of slang, and a lot of adult content which bothers me. There are sexual depictions in characters, dialogues, and various symbols.
I believe games should be clean, with a solid story or setting and appropriate dialogue. This feels very inappropriate. Still, everyone has different tastes and preferences in gaming.
The game isn't that bad after all. The setting and overall theme don't match my preferences, but it's improved significantly. The developers have fixed many issues, and there are also improvements in gameplay.
I'm confident the RTX 4090 can run this game smoothly, even in 4K. Concerning PATH and ray tracing/RTX, it's difficult to comment on performance at the moment, as the patch isn't yet available.
Hi. Yesterday I began playing Elden Ring where I got stuck, and wow, some enemy battles in the later stages are really challenging and intense. Plus the boss fights. But overall it's been a fun experience with ELDEN. Much better than Dark Souls.
Even with its tough difficulty, Elden Ring feels more smooth compared to the Dark Souls series. They've made many improvements to gameplay mechanics and animations. It's also a much better polished title.
Have you finished HL yet?
Nah... I'm only a few hours into it... just got Last of Us. My main issue is finding time to play... working around 70 hours a week means I get a few hours daily but not endless time... but at least I get these games.
🤣
Elden Ring will be the next Steam purchase. I'm excited about the graphics and the challenge.
