I think GTA V is just because it covers land, sea, and air, with many unique NPCs as well as vehicle behavior and multiplayer online. I used to fold my laundry while standing in front of Grauman's Chinese Theater in Vinewood (the name isn't the same in the game), and I never heard an NPC comment that wasn't unusual for more than half an hour. It's remarkable how NPCs respond—through jokes or reactions—to both successful and failed jumps. It's fascinating how NPCs and vehicles are randomly generated differently across various areas of the map (for example, you won't find a Beverly Hills/Rodeo Dr. type character or vehicle in the Mojave desert). This is similar to real life as well. I once switched to Trevor from another player, and he was lying on a bridge railing wearing only his underwear, with a tattoo that commemorated his "brother" Michael's death.

RDR 2 contains 60 million lines of code, GTA5 has 36 million, and Rockstar remains in the top two. The third game's details are unclear. I'm curious about the line count for Star Citizen.

Lol, are we counting the faulty code in discussions about Star Citizen? That game is really a mess.

It wouldn't be accurate to tally the code of an unreleased title, since I assume it will be refined and trimmed.
I haven't examined the game closely. The mechanics for planet generation aren't clear—depends on the world's vitality. NMS had around 600k lines when it launched.

Yes, but I think it hasn't changed much lately—it hasn't been modified in three years.
