Which CPU cooler is suitable for overclocking an i5 7600K?
Hello,
I’m thinking about assembling a gaming PC with an i5 7600k and want to boost its performance. I have limited knowledge about CPU coolers and am unsure whether the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO will suffice or if I should opt for the pricier Corsair H60 54.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler. If neither seems ideal, could there be a superior alternative?
Thanks
The more you invest, the quicker you advance. The speed varies based on your CPU – each one behaves differently, and some 7600k overclock can be much more effective than others, which is known as the silicon lottery. For your CPU, the 212 model is sufficient for a modest overclock, but a better water cooler will handle more. When choosing, I begin by budgeting a lower-spec motherboard and an i5 7600. Next, I calculate the percentage boost and additional expenses for a Z series board with a 7600K and cooler. Finally, I assess the gains from a high-quality cooler and pursuing a significant overclock. Generally, the extra speed you gain from overclocking is often offset by a substantial price increase.

Hyper 212 delivers strong performance at a reasonable price. But it doesn't offer the quietest experience. If you're using it intensely, sound might become a factor to weigh in your decision. The H60 isn't a significant improvement over the Hyper 212 for the additional cost.
