Which CPU and Motherboard Would Be The Best
I'm planning a new workstation soon, focusing on performance rather than heavy tasks like video editing. I'm considering the 3400G or the 2600.I pairing it with an ASRock B450M Pro4. My budget stays below $1000 CAD for the entire build. I've already selected storage, power supply, case, and RAM. I won't need any advanced features from the X570, like PCIe 4.0, and this machine won't be used for gaming. It will upgrade from an Intel i7-4770.
2600 would work better, though a specific GPU would be required.
I own the ATX model and can confidently say it works well. For a CPU, if available, I’d choose the 3300X—it’ll beat both of those in performance for gaming and should cost around $120. The 3400G is a solid option if you can’t buy a GPU now but plan to upgrade later, while the 2600 offers a more balanced overall experience.
