I continue to use the free unsupported home version, but thank you for the offer. If Macrium had been much cheaper than Acronis, I would have switched. Now it's too late. I switched back to Acronis two years ago. I've been using Acronis since 2001.
For around 95% of users, they essentially get the same product but with a different interface. It would be useful to see usage data or feedback from them about how often they actually use the more specialized features and which ones are unique to each option.
I experimented with other free alternatives when Reflect Free ceased updates, and I ended up choosing to continue using Reflect despite the cost because of a specific benefit: it displays an icon in the system tray only when a backup is active. Other products (including True Image) always show an icon.
I don’t need this constant icon just to know that a backup is scheduled for 14 hours from now or to check the status of previous backups at any time. I also didn’t want the icon to stay on indefinitely without purpose, as I’d like timely notifications about warnings, failures, or when backups begin or finish.
This morning I finally had the opportunity to try Macrium Restore and the USB Rescue disc. I managed to boot on the first attempt after configuring it in BIOS to use the USB stick. There were no issues when loading into Macrium. I found the image needed for restoring the extra storage drive, which I had kept as a backup on my other 8TB drive. The restoration from Western Digital 8TB My Book took about an hour—considering the data size of 475MB. The process included verifying beforehand, restoring, SSD Trim, and rebooting, with the UEFI bios setting the boot drive back to the first M.2 drive. If restoring a storage drive was so straightforward, I’m confident I can handle a C Boot drive restoration now too. I tested the Music folder on E:Storage, and all files played perfectly without any issues. Overall, everything seems fine.
