I recently installed a new desktop and downloaded malwarebytes. It's unclear which anti-virus would be best for me. AVG looks good, but are there other suggestions? I prefer something lightweight so it doesn't slow things down. Personally, I doubt I'll need one since I avoid suspicious websites, though you can't be too careful. Just in case, I'm hoping this is the right forum to share my thoughts and hear what others think.

I’ve been using AVG free for a long time and it’s performed well. I’ve adjusted it to skip full scans unless I request them, so it doesn’t consume much CPU when not in use. EDIT - don’t listen to that person ^^^ Don’t even consider Norton or MacAfee.

It has a great user interface that fits nicely with Windows 8.1. It runs smoothly and uses minimal resources. The app features a browser integration that functions well. The quick scan feature is fast as well.

I agree with that, I rely on AVG Internet Security and appreciate it. Probably not the most enjoyable experience, but I didn’t mind letting it run on a digital device like many others have done before, lol.

Consider installing on your SSD for faster performance, or HDD for more storage space. (Great choice for your first desktop!)

I mostly work with infected computers, so I suggest MalwareBytes and your expertise.
