Hi, I just set up my Tower PC with the Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB DDR5 6800-40 RAM, and I haven’t enabled XMP yet. I’m confused about how the memory is being used and what’s happening. Could you help me figure it out?

Many background jobs consume minimal resources, but together they can use a significant amount of memory.

Having more RAM allows more applications to run simultaneously, up to a limit. For instance, I might use around 10 gigabytes of memory while only three simple programs are active, but with 16 gigabytes, the consumption would reach about 6 gigabytes.

You may need to adjust your page file size manually to a maximum of 32GiB. A 41GB or 47GB paging file isn't beneficial if your system uses more than 64GB total RAM. Press the Windows key + pause|break, then click advanced system settings. I believe you're navigating to the performance section, but you'll find a page divided into three parts—one labeled performance, which will launch desktop effects. Whatever the section is, locate the "environment" or memory option. When reaching the pagefile settings, choose custom. Set the minimum to 256 or 200, but not lower, and the maximum to 32768. This ensures your SSD or hard drive doesn't exceed the physical RAM you have. If you go below 32GB, features like hibernate, hybrid shutdown (default), or hybrid sleep won't work, which preserves the current state in persistent storage during power loss.
