Where can I find information about Skytech Gaming and its location?
Following my previous outburst, I now need to revise my perspective somewhat. The new solid-state drive has arrived, and I now feel some responsibility should be attributed to the United States Postal Service due to their failure to properly update the tracking number; it never indicated they’d received the item until it was nearly delivered—as if the package vanished for eleven days. This isn't SkyTech’s issue (though perhaps they could utilize UPS or FedEx instead).
Ultimately, I obtained a functional computer and am pleased not to need to return it.
I purchased two identical custom PC builds from Skytech Gaming. The initial delivery of the first build occurred on May 13, 2020. When placing my order, I provided detailed specifications. Here’s a breakdown:
Case: Thermaltake Level 20 GT ARGB
Motherboard: ASUS X570 Hero vii
Graphics Card: Nvidia GTX 2080 ti 11 GB
Memory: 32 GB GSkill RGB with heatsink
Solid State Drive: I selected a premium 1TB SSD (avoiding WD, which was offered as an alternative).
Hard Disk Drive: 4TB (brand unspecified at the time of order)
CPU Cooler: Skytech was the mandated choice.
Fans: I upgraded to seven Thermaltake fans instead of the standard Skytech models.
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro.
Total Expenditure: Approximately $3500 per system.
Weight: 102 pounds.
My instructions were as follows: The AOI cooler could be mounted on top or against the rear wall, and I wanted to maintain the two 200mm fans at the front for intake airflow. Positive air circulation was desired.
The first build arrived and functioned correctly initially; however, several problems emerged. These issues compounded over time. The RGB lighting wasn’t synchronized with the motherboard; the 200mm fans were controlled via the tower's RGB button while the remaining fans synced to the motherboard. This was manageable (a Thermaltake controller was purchased for $24.99).
They installed the 200mm fans but positioned the AOI cooler behind the front-mounted fans, contrary to my instructions. I relocated the radiator. Furthermore, several of the ordered fans were present in the tower, yet they substituted the 140mm rear vent fan with one of the seven 120mm Thermaltake fans without supplying the removed 140mm unit. (Live chat support provided a dismissive “oops”). The SSD was also a WD! I paid $175 for an inferior $120 SSD? This was unacceptable. Customer service insisted it was a “name brand.” I countered that I specifically requested to avoid WD, and they eventually agreed to send a replacement – which turned out to be an HP EX900 SSD. This resulted in another $140 SSD purchase and a substandard unit. The Thermaltake fan sent was a lower-quality, outdated model.
At this point, I was extremely frustrated. I discovered that the second build (PC) is scheduled for delivery on Monday. I will inspect it and provide an update.
Tower: Thermaltake Level 20 GT ARGB
Motherboard: ASUS X570 Hero viii
GPU: Nvidia GTX 2080 ti 11 GBs
RAM: 32 GBs GSkill RGB w/heatsink
SSD: I opted to pay more for the “name brand” 1TB SSD (Not a fan of WD and WD is an option before “name brand”)
HDD: 4TB (brand unknown at time of order)
Power Supply: unknown
AOI radiator: Skytech is the only option.
Fans: I opted to pay more for 7 Thermaltake fans over the Skytech fans.
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro.
Total Cost: Just shy of $3500 each.
Total Weight: 102lbs.
Instructions I have: AOI can be top mounted or back wall. I want to keep the 2 200mm fans in the front of the tower for intake. I want positive airflow.
The first tower had some crap 750w Non-modular.
Second tower had a Thermaltake 750w Smart RGB.
First Tower the Tower is a Thermaltake Level 20 GT ARGB Plus.
Second Tower is a Thermaltake Level 20 GT. (Suddenly no RGB and over $100 cheaper than the RGB I paid for)
First Tower had the correct motherboard.
Second Tower has an outdated version of the same board but no built in wifi. Price point? Over $100 cheaper than what I paid for.
First Tower SSD price I paid was $175 and they tried to get away with putting a $120 Western Digital. After fighting with them about it, they ship me some crap HP SSD worth $140.
Second Tower actually came with a Samsung SSD that is even to the price point I paid.
First Tower Has a GTX 2080 ti 11 GB GPU.
Second Tower has the exact same.
First Tower RGB's were not synced to the Motherboard 100%.
Second Tower was not synced to the Motherboard at all. They added an internal switch. You have to open to tower to adjust the RGB settings.
First Tower HDD was a Seagate.
Second Tower was a Toshiba.
First Tower the Tower was in good condition.
Second Tower had the front glass plate busted off.
Overall assessment is that this company is really good at overpricing but making it appear that you might get good components.
You would think that they would attempt to keep clients who would drop over $9000 into their company in less than 2 months. But that isn't the case.
Advice: AVOID.
After looking at open market price points vs Skytech gamings Price point to undercut components?? Build your own. Cheaper and you know what you’re getting.
