Hi everyone, welcome! I'm new around and searching for software to separate audio from various programs during recordings. I’d like something free, though I know sometimes you have to pay. Right now I use PlayClaw for video recording—it lets me save different audio tracks so they can be edited separately. I have one track for my microphone and another for computer sounds. Sometimes I need Skype’s voice on a separate channel while keeping the computer sound balanced or muted when someone is talking. I’m looking for a tool that handles this kind of separation easily. If you know of any free options or alternatives, I’d really appreciate it! Thanks in advance! ~_Stads_

The problem lies in that I need to capture audio separately from other sources like Skype or team speak. I just need a clear recording, not mixed with game or computer sounds. From what I understand, turning down Skype in the volume mixer should stop it from being recorded altogether.

The free VAC option is the VB Audio Virtual Cable. The main drawback is you can only include one virtual channel. I’ve applied it to block TS3 through my speaker output. Their platform features other cool audio ideas, though I’m not familiar with many of them.

Try using Skype/Video Conferencing/Teamspeak/etc. on another machine. Capture each session separately and merge them during editing. Another option is running Skype inside a VM and recording there, though I’m not entirely confident about that method. It may require some effort but could be worth experimenting with.

I looked into it a bit, but there seems to be no option for splitting audio from different programs. The only available method is redirecting the entire computer sound, which covers everything... Would you like me to clarify how that works? If not, I can try to help you find another workaround.

The audio input should have a choice for selecting the output device. Similar to how my Teamspeak is configured to send to VB, if there were a tool to capture multiple audio sources, I could pick VB for Teamspeak audio. Currently, I rely on it to remove TS from the streamed audio.
