I was running a 5600x with MSI B450M PRO-VDH-V2 and everything worked well until I considered upgrading to a 5900x. I managed to get a good price on the old one and sold it right away, then bought the new model. After installing the 5900x, I set it to overclock at 4.4Ghz. Once I switched to the 5900x, the system displayed a pop-up saying “preparing to repair.” An engineer advised me that my SSD might be corrupted. I reinstalled Windows by formatting the SSD, but the issue persisted. I tried another SSD, reinstalled Windows on M.2, and everything booted normally. After sitting on the desktop for 15–20 minutes, I encountered a BSOD with the message “WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR.” I searched online and realized it was likely a hardware failure. I attempted different RAM modules without fixing the problem, updated my BIOS, upgraded my power supply to 1000W, changed my graphics card from 750W to 1000W, and installed the latest drivers. Still, the BSOD kept occurring even after several restarts. I ran stress tests on both single-core and multi-core performance, but it remained consistent. Eventually, I shut down and restarted my PC, only to face the same error again. The CPU temperature stayed around 90°C. Please help, this repeated error is really frustrating. My system specs are: Windows 10 PRO, Ryzen 9 5900X, GIGABYTE B550M AORUS ELITE, DDR4 16GB (8x2), 3000MHZ, Colorful RTX 3060, 12GB, Antec HCG 1000W, extreme SMPS with single fan. I also have a locally acquired AIO cooling fan.

Execute memtest multiple times, completing at least four passes. Ensure no errors appear to confirm stable RAM operation.

What storage options do you employ? Usually these issues arise during unstable CPU overclocking. They can also stem from problems with chipset drivers. I recommend removing any drives that aren’t your Windows boot drive. Perform a clean installation of Windows while offline. Once the first boot occurs, turn off automatic driver setup and install AMD chipset drivers manually. Additionally, create a fresh boot disk using the latest Windows version from the provided link.

I just take out all my hard drives from SATA and set up a brand new Windows installation. Updating the drivers via the auto-update feature should attempt manual installation, which might work.

Did you also execute WinDbg in admin mode to open and inspect the dump file? The firm has released a preview of the application in the Microsoft Store.

The processor is the main concern. Consider attempting a static overclock using lower voltage settings while maintaining similar clock speeds to determine its effectiveness.

It was a really poor decision there. You always want to confirm the new product functions perfectly before selling something you know works well—especially when it's in use. More importantly, if everything was fine before replacing the CPU... Well, it seems the 5900X had issues. It's strange since this happened to me just a few days ago too. I returned a 5950X for the same reason. Luckily, I could get it back because it was marked as "used" on Amazon, making it a safe purchase.

Who knows—maybe you’ll upgrade to a B2 if you’re still on a B0.

If the system hangs during BSOD, skip this step unless it restarts after a short time—then proceed with the registry adjustment. To update the registry, open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\CrashControl, click the empty area, select New → DWORD value named "DisplayParameters", set its value to 1, and save changes. Reboot to apply. Afterward, the BSOD should display additional information in the top-left corner.
