My new setup collects WHEA mistakes over time and eventually shuts down. The system is a Ryzen 5800x with a Gigabyte X570 processor, 32GB Crucial Ballistix MAX 4000Mhz RAM, paired with an SSD from WD Black SN850. Initially, I aimed for 2000Mhz on both memory channels to achieve balanced performance. After some benchmarks looked good, playing Rust with friends caused random reboots. I suspected faulty hardware and ran MemTest, but it needed more time. Eventually, resetting the BIOS reset everything. At first, Prime95 ran smoothly without errors, so I kept playing. Then issues worsened with frequent restarts and instability. Now I’m unsure what’s broken. I have a spare 5600x with 32GB DDR4 RAM, some GPUs, and a motherboard. I need guidance on which tests to run first and how to diagnose the problem effectively.
You’ve got all the components, so fixing it should be straightforward. But I think the issue lies with the processor.
It should work fine. You’ll notice mistakes only in the event viewer and possibly in hwinfo after some time. Have you tried using a different processor or resolved the issue?
Sure, I confirmed the CPU swap right after the initial post. Testing the 5600X for an hour showed no problems, so I believe that resolved the issue. I began the RMA process with AMD and thought it might be more complicated than it actually was. Appreciate the confirmation.
