What’s your question about PC Build?
Hi everyone, I'm working on completing my PC build later this month. I have a few questions about the motherboard's ports. It's an Asus ROG Strix B550-F Gaming(Wi-Fi) and it has several connections: two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, four USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, one display port, and an HDMI port among others. I'm wondering if each of these ports functions independently—can I connect a device directly without any setup? If not, do I need additional drivers or software to enable them? Thanks for your help, especially since this is my first time building a computer.
Most features should function without the video, likely. A few might need drivers, but they’ll operate normally if you don’t interact with them. The video connections won’t work unless you have an APU.
Running a CPU with an iGPU means you can utilize the display outputs, at least with B550. However, B550 doesn't support the latest APU models (Zen + APUs), though a BIOS update can enable support for Zen 2 APUs, which are still mainly available on OEM builds at this time.
Sure, I can help with that. For an 850W Corsair PSU, you should look at budget-friendly 8GB GPUs with solid thermal performance and quiet operation. Options under $500 often include models from brands like MSI, Gigabyte, or Aorus. Check reviews for good cooling and low noise ratings to ensure they fit your needs.
