You're running a 4080 with a 7800x3d and Alienware aw3225qf. Gaming at 4K is demanding. Using GSync and Sync in the Nvidia control panel with a 3-frame delay is a common setup for smoother visuals.
Limiting frames offers several advantages. I mainly use it to cut down heat production and provide more flexibility in the game. It smooths out the peaks and valleys, giving a steady experience. Since my monitor includes a built-in g-sync chip, I can take advantage of overdrive when frame rates go beyond the VRR limits. Restricting frames below the monitor’s cap will likely resolve problems in higher ranges. This approach isn’t ideal for competitive titles, but it’s worth trying. It’s not harmful to limit frames; in fact, for games like Planet Coaster where 120 fps is enough, it’s unnecessary to worry about excessive frames. For fast-paced games such as Rocket League or CSGO, however, keeping all frames can be beneficial.
