I gave the idea a quick think but haven't dedicated much time yet. Right now I'm okay with stock speeds that perform well at lower temperatures. Being in a tiny studio apartment without air conditioning really shows you just how powerful this machine can be!

I've got a case that's still open, which means the noise isn't being contained. If the CPU gets too hot, everything would speed up and it'd get really loud—plus it's right next to my desk. I've spent a lot of time on it, but you could just lower the volume to 1.2x and try a higher frequency like 4.2k across all cores right away. If it doesn't work, you'll be laughing at yourself and temperatures should drop. If it does, you can set it aside for later when you're ready to find the best settings.

For those trying this, I prepared the device last night to simulate a long-lasting workload (home folding) overnight. It doesn’t engage every core, but activates several of them. The machine stopped at some point, likely within two hours based on the amount of folding done. I’m planning to attempt a similar setup now.

I quickly realized there are no case fans, which might be causing the overheating. The RAM and VRMs get extremely hot during long, continuous use. I’m unsure if the issue lies with the cooling or the actual overclocking settings, but I plan to add fans to target those areas and test if they keep the system running cool overnight.

What are your specifications? What are your VRM and RAM temperatures? Which CPU cooler do you use, and why aren’t there case fans in a case with the incinerator of a 3900x?
