whats your i7 6700k overclock.
whats your i7 6700k overclock.
The outcomes are recorded in my notes. No sign of an optimized overclock, though. It was mostly just experimenting and turned out fully reliable. I didn’t feel the urge to push it further. What are your BIOS settings then?
LLC remains strong on my Z170X UD5. BIOS voltage is locked at 1.32v, but it stays dynamic. It's consistently stable since I assembled it in February. I ran tests with Prime small FFts and Intel Burn Test simultaneously for eight hours. Temperatures stayed under 70°C on each core, except during both stability programs running together—those are continuous settings, not just a one-time check.
Yes, 1.25v on VCCSA and 1.15v on VCCIO with XMP enabled. Each board will behave differently.

kristoffermilo shared his experience with the i7 6700K and 4.8GHz setup, noting high temperatures around 88-90°C during peak load. He mentioned seeing another build with similar specs running cooler at 94°C but decided to try a lower voltage of 1.34V with 4.5GHz and 65-70°C temps. He clarified his confusion about the temperature drop after improving the thermal paste application.
When I installed my i7 6700K, I chose the 4.8GHz model regardless of the voltage. I ended up with around 1.41V and temperatures reached between 88-90°C during heavy use. However, I noticed Salazar Studios using an i7 5820K at a 4.4GHz overclock with temperatures at 94°C. Now I’m considering that staying under 90°C is safe.
But after all that,
Mod edit: you too,
I realized I didn’t apply enough thermal paste and used a new one, which has brought my temps down to 65-70°C on a 4.5GHz processor at 1.34V. I’m thinking about going back to the 4.8GHz again, since it should be cooler.
Apologies for the poor grammar in my earlier message...
How can your temperatures be lower when you require more voltage?
I don’t fully grasp what you’re suggesting, sorry.
@mastergup
Kristoffermilo meant his temps would be lower than before because he re-applied thermal paste; he mentioned having too little the first time. Correct! 😀
