What’s the top-rated screen recording program for Windows?
My computer is an older model, and I've experimented with various recording programs to capture gameplay. Two options stand out as particularly effective:
FBX Game Recorder
and
OBS – Open Broadcast Software.
FBX Game Recorder, developed by BB Software Inc., is an excellent program—and it’s entirely free. It's remarkably straightforward to operate, unlike OBS, which can be somewhat complex. FBX recorded my games flawlessly at 20 frames per second with excellent quality, and it features a small on-screen indicator that appears when recording begins (triggered by Ctrl + F12).
OBS – Open Broadcast Software, is a versatile video application used for live streaming and screen capture. It's also free to use. Initially, I encountered issues with OBS, needing to extensively adjust settings to prevent lag and ensure adequate video quality. However, after some configuration, it performed adequately. Furthermore, I experienced a persistent black screen problem within OBS’s game capture mode, prompting me to switch to window capture.
In summary, I would like to present a visual example but unfortunately, I removed my YouTube gaming channel. I highly recommend exploring both programs; they each offer the capability to record games at up to 60 frames per second in high resolution, and both are available without charge.
My system specifications are:
Processor: Core 2 Quad at 2.67 GHz
RAM: 6 Gigabytes
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 7000 Series
Hard Drive: 150 Gigabyte SATA
