I've been checking out options for the 'Verse and wondering which ship is best to start with. I know this topic has been discussed a lot, but I'm curious about the current lineup with the Reliant and what people think of it as a starter. Thanks.

There are many choices available. The decision mainly hinges on your goals. I found the Reliant appealing and purchased one myself, though keep in mind it isn’t fully functional yet. In Star Citizen you can exchange your ships for credits, making it a manageable swap if you decide later. My advice is to start with a basic package and then invest in an Arena commander pass. The 325a by Origin Jumpworks is a popular budget option at $80 USD for a package, though you’d need to purchase a $5 AC pass. It’s a speedy fighter. Ultimately, think about your priorities and adjust accordingly—swapping ships is easy. Good luck, Leighton

It depends on your goals, as mentioned before. The Mustang and Aurora follow similar paths, while the Reliant is meant to be the next advancement. They offer a wide range of capabilities, though not all are exceptional. They’re versatile all-arounders. The 300 series looks good, moves fast, and handles tough situations well. The Hornets are combat-focused and specialize in battle, doing little else. The Cutlass and Freelancer represent the higher tier—multi-crew, multi-role vessels that excel when you invest. If you’re just starting out, begin with a basic Aurora or Mustang, get familiar with the game, earn some in-game currency by playing, rent ships if you prefer, and if you like them better, upgrade your base ship to one of these models. The upgrade costs are similar to purchasing the model directly, so you won’t lose much value.

Certainly, this highlights the main points about affordable vessels and suggests avoiding costly options initially.

It's a bit too late for most of us, but all ships will be in the game. The extra cost of pricier models funds development, making it a win-win for everyone except your wallet.

I focused on experimenting with a simple vessel initially.

I possess an AMD system (the model isn't clear) that came with your graphics card. How does it compare to others? Would you like suggestions for alternatives?

Mustang Omega works well for racing, while the Avenger offers a $5 cross chassis upgrade. You don’t mess around with a Susan Boyle—opt for a Taylor Swift instead.

You're weighing options between a ship that may not look impressive but delivers solid performance versus one that appears flashy yet lacks real impact. It's a classic debate between style and substance. In a twist, you could essentially customize any ship—just add as many sledges as you like and slap on a spoiler if you want. On a related note, for pricier models, the choice often boils down to budget versus patience. I’ve tried several ships but prefer ones that match my character roles. If you need flexibility, the game lets you trade in what you own and swap it for something new until the full release.

I was trying to say I meant at least to fly a $45 ship before you start spending as much as others in the forum do.
