What's the best way to start as a beginner streamer?
Hi everyone,
I'm looking into setting up streaming on my PC. Right now it's mainly for sharing with family and friends, but I'm open to creating a YouTube channel later.
😆
So, where should I begin? My current hardware is a new 10900k build with 64GB RAM and a 3090. What software do I need? Are there any extra components required? I already have gaming headsets, but I notice some people use microphones on their desks, so I'm expecting good audio quality.
Is there a guide on streaming basics available?
Thanks in advance!
What streams are you thinking of doing? For software, I’d use OBS or NVIDIA shadowplay, though I’m not sure your GPU will handle it well. 😉
The available options are: wireless earbuds, over-ear headphones, and noise-cancelling headphones.
It depends on the streaming software you're using. OBS tends to put more strain on your CPU, while Shadowplay mainly uses your GPU for recording. You can also leverage NVENC if your GPU supports it.
If you truly wish to gain traction, beginning with YouTube or similar platforms is the best approach. This ensures your presence remains visible for others to discover. The least effective method is sharing the link in-game chat, which often leads to frustration when I'm playing. Posting about other people's videos on YouTube is another irritation of mine. Quality content is key—people will watch it.
No worries... I've been busy at work for the past few hours and just got home. I'm assuming the hardware is fine except maybe for a better mic. So, I'm curious about setting up the first stream... getting started with NVENC and OBS... basically, how do I get things running so I can tell Mom "hey, look at this." LOL
Yeah, I hear you... spamming links isn't something I'm into. It's also annoying. I'm pretty creative with quality presentations... I do a lot of editing on the side and had a good response to my drone videos.
Yep... I already have a few subscribers posting my drone clips, which I haven't done in a year LOL... I've noticed channels growing too. The chess channel I've been following for four years just hit 1M subs last week...
