What's the best way for me to run 4K games?
I recently purchased a 4K monitor, though it runs at 60Hz. It’s a welcome upgrade compared to my previous 1080p setup, and I’m happy with the size. Before that, I used a 1080p monitor, which worked for games but now I experience occasional stuttering. Since I mainly play Rocket League, consistent frame rates are important. I read about DSR on a Steam forum and decided to use it at 4K. However, after checking what DSR does, I’m questioning whether a different approach is better. Also, one of my games offers a DSR setting in the video options—should I lower that game’s resolution to 1080p and then increase DSR to 4x, or stick with native settings? Lastly, I enabled Vertical Sync in the Nvidia Control Panel at “fast.” Is that acceptable, or should I disable it?
DSR is a technique that lets you play games at twice or more the display resolution your screen supports, which improves the visual quality. When using a 4K monitor, enabling DSR will double—or even quadruple—the original resolution. If you need stable frame rates, running at 8K isn't advisable. Disable DSR, set your game to 4K, and adjust in-game settings like AA to balance image clarity and performance. I usually avoid Vertical Sync but it's fine for fast play. You can test without it on to check for tearing or input delays.
Opt for a powerful graphics card to achieve smooth gameplay in 4K resolution.

I attempted this, but the results aren't quite as impressive as with DSR. Interesting, right?
