Thirty frames per second is generally considered the lowest acceptable rate for video games. Game consoles typically render most titles at 30fps, although some exceptions exist where games operate at a higher frame rate, like 60fps. I personally favor 60 frames per second or more because it provides a significantly smoother visual experience, leading me to often play multiplatform games on my personal computer.

Thirty frames per second represents a common baseline for video game performance, and many consoles typically render games at this rate. However, some titles can operate at a higher frame count, like sixty frames per second, albeit rarely. I favor sixty frames per second or more because it provides a noticeably improved visual experience compared to thirty, leading me to often select PC versions of multi-platform games.

Many people suggest that 30 frames per second is the absolute lowest acceptable rate. I myself struggle to enjoy games at that speed for extended periods, and it can cause slight discomfort. While 60fps is acceptable to me, I’ve become accustomed to and prefer the smoother experience of playing at 100fps or more.
