People appreciate it because it offers pure Android without unnecessary layers that cause confusion or slow performance. While alternatives like ParanoidAndroid, PAC ROM, and SlimROM exist for various devices, they don't match the scale or stability of CyanogenMod. Additionally, CM is backed more by developers, simpler to install, and tends to run more reliably.
