What's happening with the broken SSD in just one week?
PC appears to be damaging my SSD under heavy usage, causing significant slowdowns, freezing, and crashes. After restarting, the SSD loads Windows but displays a severely distorted blue screen. The first SSD failure prevented it from booting, except when RAM was fully utilized. Usually, only the OS drive is affected. Both SSDs were connected via SATA to the motherboard. The system temperature is around 42°C (107°F), and before installing new fans, the PC would shut down multiple times due to overheating (likely CPU). It seems the power supply or maximum RAM usage might be the issue. I don’t have a dump file, but I can access BIOS if that would help. The components are: ASUS B450M-A II, 650W PSU (bronze rating), RX5700 XT, Ryzen 2600 OC’d to 3.9 (now disabled). What’s happening?
coolermaster mpx-6501-amaab runs smoothly with a max CPU temperature of 83 during intensive tests, dropping slightly while playing. Turning it off doesn't lower the temperature further since the drive appears already dead. The CPU shuts down at 95°C, which has happened a few times before I added more fans.
the first to die was an adata su630 260g
the second that died was a kingston hyperx sh103s3 120g
can't read the data after the first SSD failed and i reinstalled an os on a new drive it still couldn't access the old drive's data. i'm not 100% sure both are dead. the second one is at least trying to boot but keeps crashing into the blue screen while the first one wouldn't even start.
what does it indicate?
this drive might have experienced significant data loss and could require a fresh format.
it's conceivable that the SATA power from the power supply or the data transfer to the motherboard isn't operating correctly.
did the second failed drive utilize identical connections as the first?
in the bios there is a second ssd drive listed, but it causes a blue screen when booting.
i have tested various sata cables and ports; i don’t have an extra psu cable to try. it’s unclear if the second ssd drive uses the same sata in the mobo.
the other hdd i connected works perfectly with the psu and mobo.
