Hi so first thread. Im thinking of buying a new cpu fan for my pc. And was wondering if the Cooler Master - Hyper 212 EVO would be able to handle me overclocking my AMD Fx-6300. I linked my current build. important to note ive never tried overclocking before so im new. Idk what the rules on questions etc are haha let me know!
Also unrelated to the topic of overclocking, im planning on gettin better ram;should i buy 2 more 4gb sticks or just buy 2x8gb sticks.
This is my current build -

I checked all available sources but didn't find any spec sheet or reviews mentioning the maximum height of the Cooler. At 160mm, the hyper212 seems a bit tall for that case.

Yes, the Hyper 212 EVO is suitable. It reaches the highest allowed height at 160mm. Using the standard fan/heatsink will make it an upgrade and allow some overclocking. The Hyper 212 serves as the baseline cooler for overclocking tasks. Purchase a 2x8GB memory kit to ensure stability. Eventually, you might want to invest in a new system.

I would prefer this option instead of the Hyper212
CPU Cooler.
Deepcool - GAMMAXX 400 74.34 CFM CPU Cooler
($24.49 @ SuperBiiz)
More affordable and compact than before.

Hyper 212 EVO handles the FX6300 well. It's not as intense as the 9590, lol. 😄

I believe it would be wiser to save a little more and invest in a new computer, as this system is outdated. It simply cannot compete with a Ryzen 3 1200, which is the weakest model they ever produced.

But some individuals don’t need high computer performance. I bought a PC last week for $35 (G540+H61+4G+120SSD) just to watch movies and manage orders from my site, which is more than enough for me.
My advice would be that you can buy a new cooler for your computer, but adding 2*8GB isn’t essential since the 16GB is sufficient for the FX6300.
Sorry for my unclear English. 😀

What amount of overclocking are you intending to perform?

The Gammax isn't particularly cool, so it's suggested that the OP should save a bit more to obtain something like Arctic Freezer 33.

The 6300 was originally designed to perform well even on older systems like the hyper212 or gamaxx 400, but it should have reached speeds of 4.7-4.8GHz. If the chances were ever in its favor, it would have been more consistent in performance.
