I only have an ER-X, so my notes on UI disappearing apply to what I can do or set up with it. It has Dual WAN failover enabled, and even the default setup from the multi-WAN wizard doesn’t mention a UI server. In reality, it seems the default is just to ping the WAN gateway—often the ISP’s modem. Teleport could stop working, but WIFITMAN would still function for features that don’t need UI access or cloud services.

I believe you're in great condition—almost drives me to keep one of your many retired ER-4s around for emergency preparedness. I think those fully committed to Unifi would be the least surprised by anything.

In short, the situation remains largely the same for those who depend on UniFi equipment to generate income. To ensure solid support, you should manage your own hosting setup or opt for reliable paid services. You can't count on Ubiquiti to deliver consistent hosting. I'm not referring to cloud keys or UGW/DreamMachine solutions. In our organization, we deploy thousands of UniFi devices across various locations—from small shops and random offices to bigger installations (around 1000 active clients). We primarily use Meraki at larger sites, though we previously fixed some older equipment. Our controller runs on a VM with a major cloud provider. We test firmware versions at a few sites and skip automatic updates. We don't rely on UniFi gateways or their switches, except recently when newer models have shown better stability compared to those from 4 or 5 years ago based on our failure rates. At home, I run a UniFi controller inside Docker without any issues.
