What will happen to you?
Hi, a few years back I was just starting in the PC world and had my cousin handle all the software stuff. I recall installing Windows 8.1 when we needed to create a new volume, but we didn’t do that step. My computer is working perfectly now, though Windows 10 isn’t updating for me. I’m planning a fresh install from a USB drive, but I’ve heard you can’t use an old Windows 8.1 key with a new Windows 10 key. It seems the system will just recognize my hardware and let it update automatically, but what if it wasn’t installed at all? I tried updating manually on their site and downloaded the installer, but it got stuck on the update screen. I have a “get Windows 10” button still, but nothing happens. The “check your PC” tab says there’s no report available. Here’s my idea: 1. Re-download the tool to get Windows 10. 2. Get the fresh install pack and see if the update works. 3. Call for help. 4. Try swapping it with a machine that has Windows 10. 5. Keep crying. 6. Cry again. Let me know what you think.
Request the feature on Windows 10 with version 8.1. If unavailable, note the issue was not addressed.
Register your key with Win10 and then run the verification tool to confirm your setup. Formatting a new volume creates an OS partition; if a partition exists, a new volume isn't necessary.
