I have a 2017 MacBook Air and I’m looking to install Minecraft Java Edition. I need stable performance around 60 frames per second and want to know the best settings. Here are my details: a dual-core i5-5350U processor, integrated Intel HD Graphics 6000, 8GB DDR3 memory at 1600MHz, and about 256GB storage with roughly 100GB free. I’m concerned about throttling if I don’t adjust things, and I’m wondering if lowering settings or using Optifine will help. Let me know what to do next.

My cousin has a setup that's almost identical. I don't recall his specific configurations, but they tend to be low settings—like around 8 chunks—which limits performance on a dual-core mobile chip. His gameplay runs smoothly overall.

Could checking your current settings and testing different configurations help determine if Optifine improves performance.

Lowering graphics settings improves performance on this system. If you need less detail, optimizing is always a solid choice.
