I also have a Vive and suggest it's better than a Rift.

Having both options gives a similar feel to the experience. I won’t go into a detailed list of advantages and disadvantages since there are plenty of reviews that handle it better. I’ll focus on the key points you mentioned.

First, I’d steer clear of buying used for two main reasons: warranty issues and bundled software. With HTC, warranty support is unlikely if something fails. Oculus is a bit more flexible, but don’t assume you’ll get free games—especially with the Rift, where many of the best titles are locked behind a subscription.

If you’re looking for a good deal, test the hardware first and see if it meets your needs. For large spaces, Vive is easier to install and scales better. The Rift can match with extra sensors and accessories, but it becomes quite pricey. Vive tracking is solid, while Rift tracking remains strong.

SteamVR Lighthouse tracking will support new features soon, so if you’re serious about VR, a Vive makes more sense. Oculus has its own ecosystem, but it’s a personal choice.

Honestly, I’d pick the Vive for most of these reasons. It offers better value and flexibility compared to the Rift, especially with add-ons. If you really want the full experience, the Vive is worth the investment.

1. I live in belgium so i don't think there is much support at all here but you got a point. 2. I didn't think of that. Is there not a way to transfer the account? I try to do a bit off the price. I try to get one for 500.

Users are monitored for diagnostic needs. No evidence shows the Rift is used for ad tracking.

For the Vive, unless they configure steam only for it, I question their interest in giving away the rest of their Steam library while selling the device. With Oculus, it could be more practical since the headset is essential; however, changing your username might not be straightforward, so you may remain tied to whatever name they assigned. It seems likely both violate the terms of service by moving accounts, and you should discuss this with the seller beforehand.
