What USB switch options are available?
I need to disconnect both my mouse and keyboard each day to connect them to my desktop PC. This routine has become exhausting, so I'm searching for a solution. Usually, I don't have both my work computer and PC available at the same time. I'd only use this setup for a mechanical keyboard and a Logitech G402 mouse. Any suggestions?
Are you working from home? Does this mean your work and home PCs are in the same room? If yes, why not consider an aviator cable for your mechanical keyboard so you can detach from the middle rather than from the end or back of your desktop or system? I wouldn't support the habit of connecting and disconnecting peripherals frequently because it can stress the connector and cause connectivity problems. That's why I've thought about using a second set of peripherals for work.
Yes, working from home with both computers at the same desk works well. I have two monitors, but I thought switching them using the input button would help. I didn’t know about the aviator cable, so I looked it up and found a USB hub is the top choice. Also, changing the cables for my kb/m is causing some strain, and I don’t want to use two sets which would make the desk even more cluttered.
Consider a keyboard with a reduced size, around 60% of the original, similar to the HyperX Alloy Origins 60. I didn't ask for the brand or model of your current mechanical keyboard. You might also think about getting a keyboard that connects to several devices wirelessly.
I checked what you mentioned at the beginning of this discussion; it's the link you provided. However, I still have some concerns about such devices (though they're similar to a KVM switch). It's also worth noting that USB hubs can be unreliable and sometimes cause issues like shorts in certain systems.
