You might only need to add another line, and electricians can be costly but it’s worth it because then you won’t have to worry about issues like your house catching fire. Check out some local electricians in your area and ask them for an estimate. I don’t think installing another line will be that expensive either—it’s likely cheaper than purchasing a line conditioner.
I'm in an apartment, but I understand your point. It's unclear just how much I could have accomplished. The UPS could be the more affordable choice. Or perhaps the conditioner you referred to?
In that situation, inform the Property Management team about the electricity issues. Otherwise, a line conditioner seems to be the likely solution.
I also have an electrician friend, so I'll definitely reach out and chat with the property manager about it. Thanks for the update!
It varies by UPS; some can temporarily increase power without using the battery during minor drops, but they switch back once the drop becomes significant. This feature is present in most UPS units, though it might not be sufficient for your needs. You should avoid frequent switching between battery and power source.
Most UPS devices use relays that produce a clicking sound, which can degrade over time. There are models that completely separate incoming power from the inverter, running continuously without relying on the inverter—known as online or double-converter units, but they are more expensive.
You might want to consider relocating your fridge or checking if it’s malfunctioning. Your PC isn’t detecting it because it has its own internal power conditioner, which uses large capacitors to supply extra power briefly. Some TVs and less reliable power supplies can cause brief outages even when the UPS is functioning normally.
The fridge is only a few years old, but I’m not sure how long it’s been there. Is there a way to check if it’s still good? Someone suggested using a conditioner, which I saw on Amazon, but I’m not sure if that’s what I need. I don’t want to buy something unnecessary or one that won’t work for my needs.
