I've been using my PC for a while now—it's not the latest model, but it works enough. A few months back, I noticed stutters and random blue screens appearing even when the system was idle. Recently, I opened Task Manager to investigate and was shocked to see 870 background processes, all running as windows applications. After restarting, it started working again, but then Task Manager became unresponsive and my whole desktop went black.

I’m unsure why these processes keep increasing and seem to be stressing the processor. It feels like a hardware problem might be at play. Since this CPU is over 7-8 years old, it could be nearing the end of its life, especially given its ability to reach up to 92 °C or 197.6 °F under pressure. Alternatively, it could be a virus, a corrupt system, or even a bad disk.

I’m looking for advice on how to tackle this issue and what steps to take next. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

More detailed information about the system is available. It's common to encounter numerous active processes. Changes may have occurred recently. You could use Malwarebytes free version to scan for any potential threats.

Sorry, I didn't note that the antivirus software showed up negative. I might have also swapped my RAM, which seemed okay and working. Perhaps I'll try a different format later to check.

Thankfully, it was a Geforce Experience problem, so I reinstalled it and everything is working now.
