What type of ribbon cable connector is this?
Hello. I swapped out my HDD and power supply in my laptop, and I suspect the small black connector holding the ribbon cable is damaged. If you recall the name of that connector, I could get a replacement and bring the necessary piece. I’ve included photos. The model is an Acer Aspire V Nitro. Thank you.
According to common practice, that black section functions as a lock-slash-retention to keep the flex cable secure. It also helps guarantee the pads on the cable make proper contact with the pins by applying pressure from the back side of the cable. The pins are located on one side, inside the white casing. You could potentially succeed by simply inserting the cable and ensuring it fits tightly.
