What to put on my SSD
Just to clarify, I haven’t completed my PC yet, but I’m planning to install a 250GB SSD and a 1TB HDD. The issue is figuring out what to install besides the operating system. Logically, I’m thinking about games—some newer titles are very large in file size. I’m unsure if I can run Steam games on the HDD and others on the SSD. I also heard someone say I could store games on the SSD while keeping Steam apps on the HDD, but I’m not sure how that would work if Steam files can’t be on both.
Your SSD already runs the OS and is full at 120GB. Adding more than 100GB should be possible for your games. Updated September 3, 2015 by MG2R
You can store certain games on the SSD and others on the HDD. Navigate to Preferences in Steam > Download > Steam Library Folders > Add Library Folder. When installing a game, select the installation directory. Place your preferred titles on the SSD (for quicker access), and the remaining games on the HDD.
Suggest adding your preferred internet browser and everyday apps to the SSD before gaming. The purpose is for faster startup of frequently used programs like Skype, Teamspeak, RaidCall, Chrome, Firefox, and streaming tools. It depends on your usage, but this is what I often encounter.
I previously owned my operating system and the games I played. When I played WoW, it would be stored on the SSD. After stopping WoW, I transferred it to the HDD. This approach may not be suitable for all games. I also had my browser, drivers, and quick-start programs like Skype installed.
OK thanks so much guys. but what if I like a game but after a wile I stop playng it and I want to put it on the hdd? I just delete it and reintall it on the hdd? It kind of suck because now with GTA V being 65gb and games like that... it isn't going to last.
