It makes sense to upgrade this setup into a NAS and add more RAM, as ZFS benefits from having more memory. Besides that, a modern Athlon 220 GE processor running around $50 will significantly outperform your current chip. Switching to an AM4 socket could be a better choice overall. For a straightforward upgrade, consider a Ryzen 2200 G for under $120 and a B450 motherboard for about $80, plus some RAM for roughly $35. This totals around $235. The graphics card will then no longer be the limiting factor.

Once you provide a budget, we can explore available options. What system would you prefer to use?

I aim to retain most of my PC. 9k PHP is roughly 180 USD.

I'm looking to play games with a good frame rate for a better gaming experience.

The platform you're using (fm2) doesn't offer much to upgrade and wasn't a great gaming experience even back then. You'll likely need a used second-generation i7 or better system, and you should install your own parts.

this would take a long time to save right now, but I’ll look for ways to improve my current setup. For now, I’ll focus on saving for a Ryzen 3 3200G and more RAM. Then I’ll check if I can afford a better processor later.

Consider used AM3 or Intel 1150 CPU boards; they’re compatible with DDR3 and simplify upgrades at the moment.

I highly caution against any am3-related activities since even a standard i5 2400 can perform well with an FX 8350 in games.

I noticed a Ryzen 3 3200G and an MSI A320M-A Pro for about 150 USD. That could be a smart investment if you plan to upgrade slightly more later, though it might be tough to find a powerful PC that costs over 400 USD.

I could simply use my GPU right now and boost my RAM.
